TRADE SLUMP IN ENGLAND.
EFFECT ON RAILWAYS
(Received January 7, 5.45 a.m.) LONDON, January 0. Tho trade slump is shown by the British railways, whose profits from April to October averaged £1,300,000 monthly, whereas November, which, is generaily the best month for goods traffic, was the lightest 'for several years, showing it loss of over £1,000,000. This loss would have been larger but for the increased coal output. The Brighton and South Coast railway lost £40,000.
