BELLRINGERS’ SOCIETY.
The thirty-ninth annual meeting’of the Christchurch Cathedral Society of Bellringers was held last night. The Very Rov Dean Carrington presided. An apology for absence was received from tho Rev E. H. Shore
’Jibe following officers were elected;—M»stor, Mr G. H. Clayton; deputy master, Mr ]£. lioUobcn; honorary secretary and treasurer, Mr J. T. A. Beaumont; honorary auditor, Mr Garland; committee, Messrs 0. Hollobon, A. G. Cusdin, D. Sioau and G. Wood. . Mr Wood was elected ft full member of tho society. Mr lan Wright was elected a hs.v member on probation. It was, decided to send a letter of Christmas greetings to Mr H. High ton, with an expression of hope that ho would coon recover from his illness. Tho sending of the usual Christmas cake to St Saviour’s Orphanage was decided upon. In the annual report it was stated that there was only a small band «f constant rmgers, and when one of these was indisposed the bills could not be rung. Unless more ringing members were obtained very scon, the Cathedral would lose the advantage of its bells. There was on hand a credit balance of £4 3.2s Bd, as against £i 4s 3d last year. The visitors’ donation box had yielded £2 3s Gd. It was with d»ep regret that there was recorded the death of a late member. Mr W. Jones, who passed away last Juno. Tho late Mr Jones had been held Ifh high esteem and respect by all who knew him. Ho had been greatly valued as a ringing member.
