PItEiMIER’S REPLY TO CRITICS. [Per Press Association.'! WELLINGTON, November 26. In reply to a deputation to-day from the Chambers of Commerce, the Prime Minister said ho was pleased to be able to state that, according to the returns supplied to him that morning, the response to the £5,000,000 loan had been very much better than he expected. .do took strong exception to the attitude of one or two newspapers in regard to the loan, which he said had been the reverse of patriotic. The money was to enable the country to keep faith with the soldiers, and would bo practically the last appeal on their behalf.
