GAOL IN WINTER.

VAGRANT WISHES TO REMAIN, LONDON, October 22. A message from Pans states that one of the strangest prison bargains ever recorded in the French capital has come to light. An incorrigible vagrant, due for release after a -four-weeks’ sentence for begging, sliiveringly complained to a fellow prisoner serving five years for fraud of the coalless winter, conditions outside. - They exchanged papers, and the long-sentence prisoner walked out of the gaol. But now the bargain has been discovered, and the vagrant has been compelled to leave his cosy shelter.
