TO LOVELY AKAROA AND BACK IN ONE DAY.
* BY OAKLEY’S MOTORS. First you leave the Square, passing through Halswell and Tai Tapu, on the way to Akaroa. Then Motukarara is passed, and after going through the Rabbit Gates, Lake Ellesmere is sighted, where hundreds of ducks and swans are to be seen. Following the Hills around, Birdling’s Flat is passed, and Lake Forsyth is reached, which is bound on either side by lofty, towering hills. Then after passing over the Switch Back, Little River is reached—a pretty . township. Then Wairewa dairying district is passed, and the climb on the Hills for four miles is commenced. At ' length you reach the Hill Top, where a good morning cup of tea is served,_ the stay here is about fifteen minutes. Looking across the bays, you see lovely Akaroa, the prettiest sight in Canterbury. Then the descent is started, until Barry’s Bay is reached. Then you pass through Duvnuchelle's Bay Robinson’s Bay, Takamatua, and then the climb of two miles on the last hill is started, and then Akaroa —the destination—is reached, where your friends are waiting to welcome you. SUNDAYS. , Leave Tourist Office nine o’clock, arrive Akaroa at twelve o’clock, where we stay four hours, leaving again at four o’clock. This gives the public every opportunity of going round the Harbour in the launch for about two and a half hours, and which only costs 2s per head. WEEK DAY’S TIMETABLE. Leave Lethaby’s, 8.80 a.m. Leave Lethaoy’s, 2.30 excent Wednesday 3 o’clock. Leave Akaroa, Bruce Hotel, 8.30 a.m-, 2.30 p.m. Wednesdays, leave Akaroa 6.45 a.m. and 1.30 p.m. Special trips can be arranged by ringing ’Phone 1867, also accommodation assured.
