The Navua arrived at Lyttelton yes* terday morning from Auckland with -07 tons of white and brown sugar. A monster fete, in aid of a fund for the erection of a pavilion at Woolstou to commemorate fallen soldiers, will bo held in the Woolstou Park to-morrow afternoon and evening, commencing at two o’clock. The Woolston Brass Band will bo in attendance. All available pennies and threepenny bits are requested to be given in to the banks in exchange for coin of higher denominations, there being a shortage of these coins, with no possibility of making an immediate replenishment. The coins may be handed in at any bank. The Wellington Waterside Workers’ Band has arranged to give concerts on Saturday,_ November 6, afternoon and evening, in the Victoria Square rotunda, and on Sunday evening, November 7, in the Theatre Royal, Christchurch. In addition, tho band will give a complimentary concert on Victoria Square rotunda on Monday evening November 8, at the request of the Baths and Entertainments Committee of the City Council. . Fifteen tons of table potatoes in a pit were sold yesterday at a clearing sale for 10s, and seven and a half tons in a pit on the same property were sold for 15s. The purchaser was the man who bought the farm. There were no j other bidders for tho potatoes, as it i was stated that after bagging them and carting them there would be nothing in them for the buyer. The sale took place at Russley Road, not five miles from the city. Several passenger flights were made by the Canterbury Aviation Company’s machines yesterday, and on Wednesday. Wednesday’s passengers were Mr and Mrs W. A. Wearne, Mr and Mrs A. 0. M’George, and Messrs F. Bruher and N. Ritchie, and' yesterday trips were taken by Mrs C.'Gray, Misses I. L. Connett, A. F. Smith, V. Reid, A. M. Gray and M. Archoy, and Messrs F. W. -H. Smith, A. Williamson, W. Harris, 0. Harris and F. W. P. Harris.
