PAPANUI CLUB. A. special general meeiiijg 'of the Papanui Bowling, Lara Tenuis and Croquet Club was brld in the-pavilion on Monday flight, Mr C, Matron (president) in the'chair. It was resolved to nominate three : rinks; for" the centres pennant matches, : Seven active and su honorary members, joined the-bowling ebb A donrtion of LI 3s waVreceived from, Mr Henry Matson, -accompanied by wishes for a successful season. ’ It: was agreed that tbe president’s‘cup should, in future, bo known as the Nicholls Cup. PAPARUA CLUB. .The opening of the Panama, Bowling! Club’s season was held under ideal weather conditions on the club’s green at the HonihjIslington recreation grounds on Saturday, afternoon; There was a very large attendance of bowlers and lady friends present. Mr ,T. C&sar (president), in declaring the season open, referred, to the good, work that had been accomplished by the green superintendent, the. result as, shown that afternoon. being an .excellent green in -the best of order. He also paid -tribute to several residents and local firms.for generous donations, which enabled the committee to erect a, pavilion on their own grounds. Tho pavilion would be ' greatly appreciated by members,. Play was • commenced by Mrs Cassar sending down the first 'bowl, registering a, toucher, amidst applause. Teams were then arranged, representing president and vios-piesident. The match resulted iu «. win, for the president by M points. ,’Alternoon tea was dispensed by the ladies, under the supervision of Mrs Castax. During the interval a presentation of a pair of bowls was made by the president to Mr J, Pakmountain, the winner of last moon’s handicap singles 1 tournament.
