Airs Robert Brough and Miss Meta. Pelham left yesterday for Tiraaru. Alias Shirtcliffe, who has been away on sick leave, returned to Christchurch yesterday. The Alisses E. and L. B'ower, Innes Hoad, are staying in Sumner for a few days. Air and Airs A. Stocker (Spotswood) and Air and Airs H. Kncwell (Dunedin) are amongst the guests at the Clarendon. . Sir Charles and Lady Campbell, “ Davaar,” North Canterbury, motored up from Timaru yesterday, and are staying at "Warner’s. Airs Scoular Fleming (Invercargill) and _ her little son and daughter are staying with Airs John Rennie, Fendailton. Miss AL Gudgeon has returned to Christchurch after a pleasant holiday in the Alarlborough and Nehon districts. Mr and Airs Halligan (Dunedin) and Miss Ida ■ Prendergast (Geraldine) are on a visit to Christchurch, and are staying at Warner’s. The Very Rev. the Dean and Airs Carrington are leaving shortly for a trip to England to visit their daughter, Miss Joan Carrington, who io studving music. The president and committee of , the Creche and-Kindergarten Association . are holding an '“At Homo” in the Alasonio Hall, Gloucester Street, tomorrow afternoon. Airs John Fraser, of Timaru, has kindly consented to sing. This should prove a great attraction. Alessrs Wilkinson and Andrew’s warehouse was the scone of a pleasant little function on Friday afternoon, when Aliss Daisy Spence was presented with, a handsome cheque, as a. token of the esteem in which she had been held during her ten years’ of service with that firm. Aliss Spence is to be married shortly. Last week the Riccarton Domain Tennis Club was responsible for one.of the most successful dances held in Upper Riccarton. The Oddfellows’ Hall was tastefully, decorated with streamers of gold and blue and blue muslin, and .about seventy couples danced. Alessrs P. Anderson and W. Holmes efficiently carried out- the duties of M.C.'s. Some very pretty dresses were noticed, and though not strictly a flannel dance, the majority of the gentlemen were in flannels. 1 It ‘Was fitting that the last dance of the season should be a very cheery affair, and such was the ball given by the sphisters and bachelors jof West Eyroton. The energetic committee responsible for tho decorating may well be congratulated on tho excellence of their work. The hall was prettily decorated with green and gold, while baskets of spring - flowers were suspended from the ceiling. Tho grand march was led off by Aliss E, Al’Dowell and Air G. Borman, while the duties of M.C.’s were carried out by Air L. Aluldrew an'd Mr 0. Bennett. The music was supplied by Humphrey’s Band.
