In the first year, beginning on January 1, 1918, tho mills gristed, m round figures, 6,300,000 bushels. The total amount in the following year was 0,-100,000 bushels, vhen the population of the country was approximately 1,150,000. The Wheat Controller estimates that this year-after allowing for the quantity earned over from the previous season. 600,000 bushels, for the Australian importation of 1,850,000 bushels, and for the quantity fit for milling bought by the mills this year—there is sufficient wheat, if it is evenly, distributed throughout New Zealand, to supply each person with the 5.5 bushels winch the previous year’s figures jjrovo to be the actual requirements.
