f A cable message from Loudon states that the King received the Bari of Liverpool arid invested him with the Grand Gross of the Bath. Sir Keith Smith will he the- guest ; f tho New Zealand Club at luncheon tomorrow. Mr A. C. Bretberton, of the Public Trust Office, who recently took up the inspectorship of this district, has now been promoted to bo inspector for Otago, Southland and Timaru district, with headquarters at Dunedin. Mr T. D. Kendall, now Deputy Trustee, will take Mr Bretherton’s place as inspector for Canterbury, and Mr Mr A. R. Jordan becomes Deputy Trustee in Christchurch. .Mr E. D. Moseley, S.M., who presided at the Geraldine Court yesterday, was welcomed on behalf of the local JnVtices of the Peace by the Mayor (Mr B. R. Macdonald), and on behalf of the Bar by Mr A. P. Barklio, the occasion being his first official visit. In reply, Mr Moseley acknowledged the work done by the Justices, nnd said lie would at all times be glad to help them. His relations with the Bar had always been cordial, and ho was sure they would continue so. Hu thanked them for their welcome to Geraldine.
