METHODIST CHURCH.
DURHAM STREET CIRCUIT. A representative gathering of members was held on Thursday evening, the Rev W. Ready, superintendent, in the chair. Re", ports disclosed a considerable increase in the roil number and -attendance of scholars in the -Sunday school. Every department, of Young People’s work reported healthy progress. The financial report disclosed total receipts of £277 for the quarter, including £26 for Home Mission and £-17 for “Fight the Famine” Fund. Totes of: sympathy were passed to the Rev S. Lawny and family, Mr Frank Turner and Mr Houghton in the loss sustained by them in bereavement. A renewed vote of sympathy was passed for Mr G-. Harrell in his severe illness. Messrs E. C. Brown and E. lies wore appointed to represent the circuit at Synod, and Messrs Cannon ’iiixl C. IT. B&rrell to act ns substitutes. Arrangements wero made to take up regularly a retiring collection on behalf of the Benevolent Fund. The Rev W. Ready wa-s unanimously invited to remain in tho circuit,for the ensuing connexional year. Mr J. A Plesher, on behalf of the meeting, eulogised tho splendid work being done by Mr Ready, particularly among the young people. Sister Ruth was present at tho meeting, having taken up her official duties as deaconess for the church. Tho Foreign Mission report of the circuit disclosed a total sum raised of £155, being £ll more than last year’s return, Tim Homo Mission report was received, disclosing an increased interest ia this work.
