CANTERBURY ROWING CLUB. The report to be presented at the sixtieth annual general meeting of the Canterbury Rowing Club states that during the year fifty new members were elected, and twelve resignations wore received. As practically the whole of our surviving activc-scrvico members had returned, and as it was necessary to ascertain the exact numerical strength of the club, a. circular letter was recently sent to each ’of these members, asking for instructions as to - continuance of membership. A fair number of replies was received, and as a result the membership now stands “t 261, _ made up of It Hfo members, 27 tully paid, 51 country, G7 honorary, £7 active, and 15 lady members. At the beginning of the season an overhaul was made of all the boats, both pleasure and racing; and a considerable sum was spent in varnishing and repairing a large part of the plant. The committee was of opinion Unit for the coraing season, additions wore necessary to the plant, and attempted to place an ? r , 0r ior an Association Four and a convertible doublc-scullor. Of these only tho latter could bo undertaken by tho builders, and ajup/ r bas beou "' veu accordingly. In addition a fairly large order has been placed lU rv - S ' and 101 ' ra( ling oars and sculls. 1 urmg tho off season a Shed Committee was appointed with tho idea of getting both eheda into good order, and of seeing that al' plant was thoroughly stowed away and cared for. This committee put in a considerable amount oi won:, and tho club properly is How in first-class order. Tno building is undergoing alterations amt repairs. The plant, both pleasure and racing, is having a thorough overhaul. The committee received two association clinker fours, one convertible double sculler, and a consignment of oars and sculls. They have on order ono B. and B. four, one B, and B double sculler, one B. and B. pair oared boat, to arrive shortly. During tho winter the electric light was installed in the boatHouse, end has proved very satisfactory.
