MILD SMALLPOX.

OUTBREAK IN ASHBURTON DISTRICT. [Per Press Association.} ASHBURTON, September 15. Five cases of smallpox of the American type are reported at Huntingdon, near Ashburton. The infection has been traced from Otago. Three of the oases are of school children and most of tho forty, contacts ar,e also school pupils. The health officer investigated tho outbreak to-day. He says the disease is in a very mild form, but the strictest precautions will be taken, including vaccination of contacts.
