The proposed Bunvood bridge was the subject of discussion at last evening’s meeting of the Heathcote County Council. Mr W. West attended on behalf of the private syndicate owning land in the vicinity. Mr G. K. Burton, the chairman, said that there was no chance for years of the bridge, the Commissioner recently reported on, being constructed, but the council was prepared to erect immediately a narrower bridge. The width on 'the floor would be lift. Mr West reminded members of the agreement between the council and the syndicate. Mr Burton said that the necessary material for the bigger bridge could not be obtained. The syndicate could blamo the ex-Kai-ser for the delay and any loss incurred. “ I think he has enough to bear,” replied Mr West, who agreed to report the result of his call to uie members of the syndicate, and forward its decision as soon as possible. The Public Works Department forwarded a copy of the report of the Commissioner, and stated that the council’s share of the expenses was £lO 3s Od. It was agreed to pay the amount.
