LATE SHIPPING.
ARRIVED. September 7, 1.30 p.m.—Breeze, s.s., 512 tons, Vem), from Timaru. A. H. Turnbull and Co., agents. SHIPPING NOTES. Tho Canopus which arrived this morning from Westport with a load of coal, will discharge 300 tons in the Westport Coal Company’s hulk or bunkers, and the remainder wih be distributed amongst tho Christchurch Gas Company, Kaiapoi Woollen Company, the Belfast freezing Works, and the Fairfield Freezing Works, and a few small consignments to other factories. None of this shipment is for the public. I The watersidora hold their monthly stop-I work meeting this morning, and in conse- i quence, nil work on the waterfront was stopped from ten o’clock to noon. The Union Company intended dispatching the i Flora for Nelson this evening, but owing to the delay, it is probable that she will not sail before to-morrow. The Storm is due from Picton to-morrow. The Breeze was due at 1 p.m. to-day from Timaru, and should sail this evening for Picton and Wanganui. MOVEMENTS OF COLLIERS. The Kauri, which arrived from Newcastle on Saturday morning, will discharge 1560 tons of coal, into hulks, most of which will bo used for bunkering tho Maori. In addition, she will discharge 500 tons for tho railways. The Kini, from Westport with 1100 tons of coal, 200 tons of which will be taken by the Union Company and, the remainder by tho Gas Company, is also bringing 20,000 ft of timber. On discharging she will load for Napierwnd Gisborne. Tl\o Kahika, from Grey mouth, is duo here with a load of coal and' timber about Wednesday morning. Tho Kittawa is to load at Westport this' week for Lyttelton. The Karori is loading coal at Westport for Wellington. The Ramona will load at Westport this week for Wellington. The Canopus arrived in port shortly after midnight from Westport, coal laden. Tho Kamo and Kokin, which have been undergoing overhaul at Wellington should ho ready towards the end of this week. The Kamo should be ready for commission on Friday, and tho Kokiri to-morrow. INTERCOLONIAL SERVICE. The Ulimaron was expected at-Wellington last evening at six o’clock from Sydney. The vessel will remain in Wellington until Thursday, when she will sail on tho return trip 16 Sydney and Hobart. The vessel brought across 211 passengers and 970 tons of cargo. Tho Paloona is timed to leave Wellington at 5 p.m. to-day far Melbourne, via Newcastle. OVERSEA SHIPPING. The Matat.ua, on discharging the Lyttelton portion of Her cargo, will go on to jyort Chalmers. Later she will load at Bluff and Timaru, returning to Wellington and Auckland. She is timed to sail “from Auckland for. Boston and New York on October 6. Tho Waimana, from Lyttelton, will proceed about 'iuesday next to iv ellington, thence to Tokomaru Bay and Gisborne to load, completing at Wellington, from which pift' she will sail early next month for London. Tho Union Company’s liner Leitrim finished discharging her cargo from the West of England at 5 p.m. yesterday, but, as she had to take in bunker coal, and did not complete the work until 9.30 last night, the vessel will not leave for Dunedin until 7 a.m. to-day The Esses will load 79 000 carcases of frozen meat at Lyttelton ,in addition to 200 casks of pelts and tallow, also a quantity of sundries. The vessel will complete her loading at Wellington tor Boston and New York. The Suffolk is due hero about tho end of tho week from Montreal, via northern ports. Tho steamer Admiral Codrington, which recently arrived at Liverpool from Australasian ports, has been chartered to load sleepers at a Western Australian port for New Zealand. SHIPPING CABLES. Arrived —Atua, from Suva, 2.5 a.m. DUNEDIN, September 7. Arrived—To Anau (10 n.m.), from Lyttelton. Sailed—llouto (schooner) (6,55 a.m.), for Wellington and Auckland ;“Port Curtis (10.30 a.m.), for Hobart. Tho Tofua, from San Francisco left Rarotonga at 0 p.m. on Sunday for Wellington, and is due on Saturday evening. Trucks for ten new electric cars and t£n new trailers have been received and will bo placed on traffic as soon as car bodies aro ready, stated the Tramway Hoard's Works and Traffic Committee in a report made yesterday. These are being constructed locally, and are well advanced. The committee has accepted quotations for sixteen additional tracks and motor equipments, (dome, lime must elapse, however, before it will bo possible to make locally the car bodies for these trucks. iNo further improvements can be made in timetables until more rolling-stock is available.
