BOY SCOUTS.
Tho St Luke’-e Troop of Rover Scouts held their first troop camp from Friday to Tuesday of this week. 'The Rovers are all over fifteen years, and there wore sistoeu of them in camp, under the Diocesan Brigade Qomruander, Rev IV Carrington, Scoutmaster G, ■ Rich, and Assistant-Scoutmaster C, Kemp. ■ The troop was divided into three patrols, the Robin Hood Patrol, under Mato L. Pickering; the Rob Roy, under Mato R. Sullivan; j and tho Buffalo Bill, under Second Mate It. i Clark. Much scouting work was carried out. 1 and practice in camping, pioneering, cooking, map-making, and bo forth. Each telit had its Indian totem polo and other “woodcraft” accessories. There waa also football practice every day, and every evening a singsong round the camp fire. On Sunday there was an open-air communion service for all at 7 a.m ( and in the evening tho Hovers attended Burwbod Church, where the oprrice was taken by the camp chief, and a sermon delivered on the “ Scout Law." Tho Hovers trekked back to Christchurch on Tuesday, and arrived home healthier and stronger for their outing. A meeting of the Christchurch District Rover Committee was held pn Tuesday night at St John’s Schoolroom, and it wag decided to make an appeal to the public for funds to set this new movement on its feet. It wan also decided that a Rover challenge shield should be instituted, and awarded this year to tho best patrol ot the November camp. This camp is to bo held in Show Week at Burwood, and each Rover patrol, consisting of four to eight boys, will camp independent!y under its own mate. The arrangements for tho camp wero discussed, and it was decided to ask Mr Eric Lawson, Scoutmaster of the 1 Kclbumo Rovers (Wellington), to take charge of the camp. Chief Scoutmaster H.
