PROGRESS LEAGUE.
Tno executive of the Canterbury Progress League met last evening, Mr A. G. Henderson presiding. _ It was announced that (ho league's travelling libraries would probably receive financial support under amended regulations drawn up by the Education Department. It was decided to invito representatives of the Marlborough Progress League to visit Christchurch and discuss various matters witli the Canterbury League, including through telephonic communication between Christchurch and Blenheim, and the survey of the uncompleted portion of the South Island main trunk lino. A request for support in the establishment of the sugar beet industry was referred to the agricultural and educational committee, with a recommendation that ii should obtain the opinion of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association and the Industrial Association. The organiaer reported that it had been decided to form a Taranaki Progreso League.
