WORKSHOPS SEIZED.

Half a million metalworkers in Lombardy adopted a policy of obstruction at the workshops instead of striking fdr increased wages- Largo engineering works at Milan, employing several thousand men, looked out the workers, and thereupon a syndicalist, union ordered the workers to seize all the workshops unless the owners agreed not to resort to a. lockout. Most of the owners refused and the workers seized three hundred of the, largest workshops, preventing the owners removing papers and money from the safes. They cut the telephones and placed guards over the clerical staffs, thus preventing contact with the owners. The workers have a plentiful supply of foodstufls and are prepared to hold the workshops against seizure. The coup was carried out without personal violence.
