ALLEGED FORGERY OF WILL.
[Pm Press Association.] DUNEDIN, September 1. Three well-known residents of Ophir, William Charles Pilcher (hotelkeeper), Hugh Macalister (slock inspector) and " illiam White (labourer), were charged before the Police Court at Clyde to-day with forging a will in favour of William While, one of the accused, and purportdig to be the will of a deceased person, ieorge Reaper. From the evidence given it appeared that Pitcher wrote .'Ut the trill, signed it as witness,’ got •'/hite to_ forge Reaper’s name, and arranged with Maealister to sign as a witness also. All three accused made written statements confessing their' guilt. They reserved their defence and were committed for trial. In fixing heavy bail the Magistrate, Mr E. C. Lervy, remarked that the offence was very serious and punishable by life imprisonment.
