Mr J. L. Lilico, who lias boon auctioneer for Messrs H. .Matson and Co. Christchurch, fur about eight years' was farcwe-lled, last evening, at the Masonic Hall by his friends in'the stock and station business. There was a largo attendance, Mr J. R. Brown presiding- Various speakers paid tcstimonoy to the good personal and professional qualities of Dir Lilico, and many good wishes were expressed for his future happiness and success. He was presented with andlluminated address and a purse of sovereigns, and for Mrs Lilico, with a case of stainless cutlery. A bridle and a riding whip were also handed over for each of his two sons Mr Lilico warmly acknowledged the gifts and the expressions of goodwill. Ho will leave for Southland shortly, to take up farming.
