Percy Martin Carmichael and John Patrick Walsh, two railway porters charged at the Magistrate's Court at Masterton yesterday with the theft of a case of whisky, valued at £8 16s, the property of the Government, wore each sentenced to one month’s imprisonment. Rybnrn, of St Andrew’s Church, and the “ Last Post ” was sounded over the grave. _ Deceased bad no relatives in the Dominion. All his relations reside in Scotland, and the Returned Soldiers’ Association is taking steps to communicate with them. An appreciation of the supreme delight of children in witnessing a pantomime led the doctors of the Christchurch Public Hospital to approach the management of the J. C. Williamson Company with a view to the purchase of a box for yesterday’s performance of ‘‘The Sleeping Beauty,” for the benefit of some of their juvenile patients.
