PRICE OF MEAT.

RAISED FROM TJO-DAY. As a result of the shortage of stock offering and the high prices being realised at the wholesale market in consequence, the price of meat is to he increased by Id per pound from to-day. The Master Butchers’ Association discussed the -matter at the weekly saie at Addington yesterday, and decided that an increase was inevitable. It was stated to a reporter subsequently that butchers could not carry on at the present prices. There was spirited bidding for both beef and mutton at yesterday’s sale at Addington, and high prices were real-' used—considerably in advance of those which have prevailed at recent sales
