SOME PRESS OPINIONS.
Some varied opinions are published in the North Island papers regarding the North v. South Island match. , Jho “Dominion" said;—“lf anything the South Island gave a better display than the Northerners. They seemed to play with more combination and they bandied the ball a littlo more cleanly than Urn North Island team. The “ Evening Post.” Wellington', said:—“ had tho belter of the first sneli with the wind, and shaped very nmcly, both buck and forward. They led at half-time bv 3 points to nil. Ip tlm second half the superiority of the Black pack told, and tho Northerner! were able to equalise and soon, to lord. All their tries were got by tho towards.” The “ N’r-w Zealand Times" said:— •'The forwards appeared to ho about evenjv matched, but the North I-land backs were superior to (heir Southern rivals." A writer in the “New ZeaLml Times.” commenting on the Now Zealand team, said:--" It is •remarkable that the whole of the North Island team, with the execution of N. A. J. Barker. Ims been chosen as Now Zealand 'rens..’ and with the inclusion of E. Roberts, who was not available for Saturday’s game, the North' has a complete fifteen in the panel. The basis of representation is excellent.”
