A cable message from Loudon states that Sir Thomas Mackenzie lunched with the King at Buckingham Palace. Mr H: I). M. Hnszard, Commissioner of Crown' Lands for Canterbury, is at present on his annual leave of one monthUuring the absence of Dr Thacker in Wellington, the Deputy-Mayor, Mr ,T. W. Beanlaud, will attend to the Mayoral duties. Mr Beanland will attend at the council offices at the same hour as Dr Thacker did.
