f CONFERENCE OPENED. . [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, March 16. Sir W. H. Merries, in opening the commercial travellers’ conference, declared that tho revision of Customs tariff w-ill he undertaken during the noxt_ or the succeeding session. Regarding trading with enemy countries, lie said that the policy of the Government was not yet decided. The Govern ment were wciting for a declaration of policy on the matter from Britain, and to see what the other parts of the Empire were doing. Britain did not seem inclined at the present moment to declare her policy.
