Mr V. G. Day, S.M., presided at the Raugiora Court to-day. 1' rank J. Cotthigham was brought up on remand under several charges of misappropriating, in the aggregate, £Bl Ills, belonging to his employers. W. ,1. Lane and Co. A remand bad been granted to give accused an opportunity to make restitution. Mr Johnston, tviio appeared for accused, stated that ho had not been aide to obtain the means to make restitution. His employers. however, lor his wife and child's sake, were prepared to take hint on again, aiid give him work that would ibo free from temptation to offend. He would be paid the highest wages:,' and an arrangement might be made for £1 per week to bo, retained by bis employers for restitution. The* amount had been reduced already by £8 10s. Accused was ordered to come up for sentence when called' upon within two years, am] to make restitution as suggested. A prohibition order was also issued against him.
Judgment by default was given in C. Hayraan v. Charles Morris, claim 4s 6d, with costs ss, and H. M. Hawkins and Co. (Mr Van Asch) v. T. Tninui, claim £32 15s, with costs £2 18s.
Keen anxiety is felt by the relatives and friends of Mr J. F. Hursthouse, of Kolbum, and well known as a dental surgeon in Wellington, as to his whereabouts, as he has been missing since Sunday, says the “ Post.” Mr Hursthouse is a returned soldier,’ and has been in somewhat indifferent health for a little time past. He had been staying: with relatives at York Bav.
