A Press Association message from Tauranga, announces the death, of Mr George Vesey Stewart, who-brought out the original Katikati settlers in the ships Garisbrook Castle. Dover Castle, Lady Jocelyn and Halcionc, and also the "first party of Te Puke settlors. Mr Stewart was associated with the late Mr John Duncan of Levin and Co., in a project to construct a railway from Rotorua. to Taumnga—an undertalcing which fell through owing to the Tara-' wora eruption. .
