COMPLETION URGED BY CITY COUNCIL. Mr J- M*. Beanland, Deniuy-Mavor, sent the following telegram'to the Hon J. Cl. Coates, Minister for Public "Works, to-day:— " Tiic Christchurch City Council congratulates yon upon your appointment ns Minister ot Public 'Works and desires to urge upon you the importance of the early completion of the Midland railway and jtho adoption of a. more vigorous and determined attitude towards the undertaking, in the interests of the whole Dominion. . My conned also desires to urge that the electrification of the Olira runnel should ho expedited. so that no delay will he occasioned when the tunnel is completed.”
