Titers are now only twelve, cases of influenza, in the Christchurch Hospital. Of these seven are of the severe type.

There are 40,000 cases of influenza, and the number is ipc'reasirtg. The hospitals are choked. It is believed that iack of coal encouraged the spread of ■.lie infection. An all-night service of electric coffin-cars has been inaugurated, the tramca.rs being specially fitted to carry thirty-two coffins.
