There is no change in the position of the engineers’ strike, but it is generally believed in the union ami in shipping circles, that the strike is drawing to a dose. The strikers will meet early next week to decide whether thev will resume. As a result of the shipping strike the State is tJirratpne.d with a serious flour shortage, only a fortnight’s supplies being on hand. A number of union officials are launching a movement to reorganise the unions in favour of arbitration instead of strikes.

MELBOURNE. February 20. .■ A meeting of engineers decided to inlpress on the Federal Executive the desirability of a speedy settlement of the strike.
