Air and Airs Alarmaduke Bethell (Pnhau Pastures) returned to Christchurch on Saturday from tho North Island, where they have been yisiting relations.

Answer to correspondent.—Winchester Street. I am not aware that there is at present any organised attempt to cope with the difficulties of tho domestic help question. I hear that the emlgratiou societies in England will be sending out women and girls shortly. Rut they will soon be absorbed. \Vo should make some, effort to put domestic service on the same footing as other occupations for women. If training in conking, sewing and the care of babies wore compulsory for our girls as physical training is for our boys, many of tha difficulties would be solved.
