YOUNG WOMAN'S DEATH. Miss Emily Ellen Brittain Howett Was found dead, hanging in an ontshml at her parent’s residence, 22, Mayfair Street, Lower Riccarton, yesterday afternoon. Tho unfortunate woman,' -- who was twenty-six years of age, ha-1 been a sufferer during the influenza' epidemic, and had never fully recovered from tho effects of the disease. Since the attack sho had been subject to fits of despondency, and yesterday morning was in such ill-health that sho was unable to go to her employment in the city. After tho midday moal her mother asked her to go for a walk, bub sho declined to do so. On her return, at 4.20 p.m. Mrs Howett found her daughter hanging by a ropo whicn Had been thrown over a rafter in an out-shed. The police officers on duty at the Addington saloyards nearby wore immediately informed, bub on their arrival it was discovered that death had taken pla.ee some time previously. An • inquest is being held this afternoon. * - an apprentice at ocott Bros, foundry, was admitted to hospital this morning with an injury ‘o the foot, caused by a pine falling Horn a crane.
