PERSONAL.
The staff of tlie Ashburton branch of the National Mortgage and Agency Company, Ltd., tendered a farewell social to Mr It. S. Forsyth, at the Farmers’ Dining Rooms, on Friday evening, and also extended a welcome to Mr W. Bryden, of AVaimate, Air Forsyth’s successor. Air Colin Campbell, head of the grain department, and senior member of the staff, presided. A lengthy toast list was honoured, and the chairman presented Air Forsyth with a framed picture, containing the photographs of the members of the staff. Air Forsyth thanked those present for their good wishes. He then proposed the toast of the incoming manager, Air Bryden, who suitably replied. Other toasts honoured were: “The Staff,” “Air and Airs Forsyth and Family,” and “The Press,” During the evening songs were sung by Alessrs Cowan, Anderson. Hasten, Cnneen and Forsyth, and Air J. Simpson contributed rcc'tutions. Mr Forsyth wa.s farcwellcd by a large gathering of Alethvcn residents on Saturday evening and presented with a handsome chiming clock.
