RICCARTON NOTES. Saturday. A cold wind ms ii evidence while the early work was in progress at Riccarton this morning, out it dropped during the breakfast interval, and the sun was shining brightly for the late ■workers. All the galloping was done on the plough, which was in capital order. Proceedings were not particularly interesting. Royal Stag opened proceedings by covering six furlongs in Imin 18 2-ssec, but he was not out on .a 'time mission. Gloaming and Rossini went once round at three-quarter pace, finishing up_ the last five furlongs in Imin 5 1Mqorfowl, with the assistance of Miss Mimic, ran five furlongs in Imin 1 4-sseo. The performance of the two-year-old was a brilliant one. , Karo and Falstafl were companions in a working gallop over once round, the last nine furlongs occupying 2min 2sec. Heathercote, and Tsightraider got to the end of nine furlongs in Imin 68 3- This concluded the work of the Auckland contingent, galloping the reverse way. Amythas covered a mile in Imin 44 4- finishing alongside Mandrake* who joined in over the last seven furlongs. Both horses were doing their best at the end. Onslaught and Winter Wind reeled off five furlongs in Imin 3soc, an attractive effort. Mustard Pot and Bore ran six furlongs in Imin 20Jseo, and Tremena half a mile comfortably in 64scc. Royal Star and Starlike finished well clear of Lucid after running a mile in Imin 4T 3-Ssec. Tortris covered six furlongs in Imin 19 4-ssec, but her effort was not altogether pleasing. St Wmnow, with Single Rose as a mate over the last part of the journey, occupied Imin 47 - 4-5060 over'a mile, and was doing her best at the finish. Wardancer ran a mile in Imin 46 2- with Orange Mart as a mate over the last half-mile, while Jazz sprinted half a mile in 50 3-ssee. Smoke finished in front of Listening Post after sprinting half a mile in 51 2-6 sec, time which Eight Bells equalled alone. _ Wolford was schooled over the nonv hurdles. x J
