A heavy downpour marred tho splendour of the Prince of "Wales’s reception at Portsmouth and London. Four hundred unemployed participated in tlio demonstration at Portsmouth. The Prince received a deputation of three. He cordially shook hands with tlie men, ami said, “ I will do my best, andl I very much appreciate your coming to me.” Replying to the official welcome, tho Prince said: “It has been a delightful •and most valuable experience. It will influence my whole life. I return greatly impressed with the value of constant personal intercourse between this country and the New World.” ■
