[Pm Pbrri Association.] GISBORNE, December 4, At the Magistrate's Court, Boberl Roland Kidson and Francis William Erickson were charged, before Air .liarton, S.M., that, being occupiers of a grocery store, they did kcopOam! use such premises as a common gaming house. Kidson was further charged with frequenting Gladstone Road, a, public place, for the purpose of betting. The charges wore laid as the result of a. police raid. Each accused was lined and on the second charge Kidson was fined £l. The Alngistrate said that it had been stated by a detective that the" Telegraph Office was used for betting transactions. This wa.s well known and thte Government did nothing to seo that the law - wins properly carried out. Tho position was Gilbcrtian.
