FURS TO BE DEARER.
RECORD PRICES FOR SKINS. Tho London fur sales, which have been discontinued since 19U, have been resumed. While perspiring Londoners have been visiting the shops during tho last few days searching for cool and. airy summer garments, fur buyers have been busy preparing for the frost and snow of next winter (says tho “ Dailv Express Competition at the sales has been very keen, and prices tor many descriptions of furs have touched record figures. Silver fox has realised ns much as £350 a skm. blue fox has been sold for £l5O per skin, fisher for £7O, white fox for £lB, skunk for £3 10s and musquash for 15s per skin. It must be remembered that these prices have neon paid for the skins in their raw state, and the furs will, of! course, cost, very much more by the time, they reach the shops as wearable articles. Also, it requires a, good .many musquash skins to make a. fur coat, even if the skins cost los each. Now’ that the war is over, the well-to-do classes are spending more freely on dress, which accounts for tho extremely high prices realised for the. expensive. varieties of fur, as the supply of these is not equal to the demand.
