Tliere wore many demonstrations on Sunday against the Monarchist meetings last week. The Christian Socialists alone organised sixty crowded gatherings, whore speakers emphasised that the Government should have shown much more energy in countering the, loyalist activities. A resolution was passed affirming the solidarity of the working classes, and their linn determination to oppose the Militarists. NAVAL EXPANSION CAUSES UNEASINESS IN AUSTRALIA. Sir Joseph Cook, referring to ‘Australia’s policy in the Pacific, said that although everything was apparently quiet, Australia could not close her eyes to the preparations being made by Japan and America in furtherance of their Pacific policy. America was building battleships as fast as they could he turned out. Japan had launched the largest battleship in the world, and was building eight others.
