Tlio lust, of the old Frondi settlers wl'.o arrived by the Coin to do Paris, Mr •loseph Libeau, died nt his residence, .Huvaucheile, yesterday morning, at the ago of eighty-six. Iho deceased was horn at .Bordeaux and came out with ills Harems in IS 10. being then a lad of seven years. Mr Lilieau, sew., was the first Frenchman to go in frir dairying in this country. Young Libcau worked wit It iiis parents for sol no years and then went fo'V.’ctohii when the gold rush was on. Yot meeting •with much success, he returned to Kvw Zealand, and after a time he took up land at Duvaudielle. lie married Mdllo deandro, who also came out with her parents in the Comte do Paris, and who died some years ago. They had a large family. Mr Libeau came in to Akaroa last January to meet General I’au, who had a loim conversation with him. The deceased was a very old Oddfellow, and up to a year or so ago enjoyed very good health. Ho was much esteemed by his neighbours for hi." cheery good humour and kindness.
