AQUATICS.
AKAROA REGATTA CLUB. A meeting of the committee of the Akaroa Regatta Club was held in the Borough Council Chambers on Wednesday, the Mayor (Mr G. Armstrong) presiding. Correspondencn was rend from the Canterbury Rowing Association approving of tho regatta programme. Colonel the lion R. Heaton Rhodes wrote accepting tho position of patron, and enclosing a cheque for .€3 3s. The Union Steam Ship Company wrote regretting their inability to send an excursion steamer to Akaroa on the IGth. Mr T. Mascliold was appointed starter in place of Mr Chockley. The chairman reported that he and Mr Vangioni had had a must successful canvass for funds in Christchurch, It was decided to provide a luncheon for officials, tiio secretary to make arrangements for same. Also to apply to the Borough Council (or the use of the reserves near the wharf. With the return of pre-war conditions, there is a general revival in the interest displayed in aquatic sports. The Akaroa Regatta Club records a. large accession in membership, and every fine evening a. busy crowd is to be seen at tho boatshodai Crews aspiring to regatta honours are now in hard training, and the well-tried veteran? of the club are taking a useful part in the, coaching.
