The bearing of the di-pute between the Wellington Co-operative* Butchers’ Union and the employers was resumed to-day before xho Cosiuiliuiioii (dininissoner, Mr Newton. The Commissioner said that since tlio last meeting complete settlements hud been reached in Palmerston North. Napier. Hawke's Hay and Wairurapu, and ii. would he a pity if the unity of the district were impaired liy a failure to agree in the Wellington area. For the employers it was elaimed by Mr Barber that meat was being sold in Wellington at lower rales than cither Master ton or Palmerston. He was prepared to pay a first shopman -CM 10 s a week. A fair minimum for general hands was £3 Ins a week. For a 'second shopman he suggested £1 2s fid. The hearing is proceeding.
