POLITICAL NOTES.

ADMINISTRATOR OF SAMOA.

DATE OF ELECTIONS.

(Special to “ Star.”) WELLINGTON, November 6. An. announcement was made by the Minister of Defence to-day that Colonel Robert Ward Tato had been offered and . had accepted the position of Civil Administrator of Samoa- Colonel Tate was a barrister and solicitor, and was prominently identified with volunteer and Territorial forces. During the war beg ave his services as adjutant-general. Early this year he went to Samoa to relieve Colonel Logan as actmg-Military Administrator. Tho term of tho appointment is three years. No definite date haa yet been fixed for the elections, but it can bo said with certainty .that rumours naming the month of‘December are quite correct. The Prime Minister’s statement that tho election cannot be held before the second week in December still stands, and as tho beginning and end of the week are ruled out, December 11 id generally regarded as the most probable day. 'The Government will not bo likely to push the date nearer to Christmas than can possibly bo avoided.
