Tho proposal was closely discussed and on tho motion of Brother Rudkin, seconded by Brother A. E. Lane, it was decided to affiliate without delay The balance-sheet for the past lislfyear was read by the D.S., Brother C ” Copper, showing a gratifying reduction of mortality since the'cessation of last year’s epidemic and a corresponding reduction of ’ > expenditure, some of the country courts showing a marked increase of membership. The secretary reported the receipt of a first instalment of £lO3 4s 8d from. the Troaaury of the promised moiety of contributions on behalf of members who had rendered military : _ service, and the meeting directed tho payment ; iof the money to the Court concerned. A u j circular from the Friendly Societies’ Department suggesting the formation of a separate "After Discharge Sickness Fund,” with a view of ascertaining the amount of additional liability ■ (if any) entailed upon friendly societies under the above heading, a proportion of which would be later on recouped by the Department, led to animated debate, and was ultimately referred to a committee of the executive members, with Brothers Shent. Pbaup and Wathew,, for inquiry and report. It vas announced that tho biennial 'meeting of the High. Court would ho held in Wellington early in the coming year.
