TO-DAY’S SITTING. CHRISTCHURCH. Mr V. G. Day, SAT., presided at to-day’s sitting of tlie Christchurch Magistrate’s Court. REMANpED. Lewis Edward Scott, who was arrested last Saturday in Dunedin, said that ho knew nothing about a maintenance order which he was charged with disobeying. Ho had never been, served with a summons, he said. Hie police said that Scott owed £l6 10s under a maintenance order to pay 30s a week towards the support of his wife and family. Accused; lam quite willing to comply with the cider. The Magistrate remanded Scott till to-morrow to allow his wife to attend the court. BREACHES OP BY-LAWS. On a charge of cycling on the footpath, Charles Gordon Malzard was fined 5s and costs 7s. For cycling without lights, Stanley Ambrose MacDougall was fined 10s and costs. John Boughen, similarly charged, was fined 6s and costa. Merle Buxton was fined 40s and costs on a charge of driving a motor-car through Cathedral Square without lights. Eric Ptcece, charged with not driving to the left over a street intersection, was fined 40s and costs. Frederick Thurston was fined 40s and costs on a charge of speeding along the North Road. Grerald Stokell, on a charge of riding a motor-cycle without an identification mark, was lined 20s and costs, and on a charge of having no certificate of ability a similar fine was inflicted. Arthur!. Eddie, a motor cyclist- was convicted and ordered to pay costs 7s on a charge of having no certificate of ability. F. C. Watson was fined £5 and costa lor speeding over an intersection. tm a charge of negligent driving Peter Prandsen (Mr W- J. Weston) was lined os and costs. TRUANCY CHARGES. Charges of truancy against Thomas A bmitlt, Alfred Rainbow and Charles M Jvenzie were adjourned till Decernher 19.
