INDUSTRIAL FAIR.

GOOD ATTENDANCES YESTERDAY; .The Industrial Fair at the Colosseum; promoted by tb o Chrafc;.H«rch'i branch'of the Canterbury -Progress .League, had one of its most successful days yesterday. In the afternoon the large building was thronged with school children who took 'great interest in all:the features of the fair. The working exhibits attracted the.children’s keenest attention. In the evening there was a steady stream of visitors, and the ■attendants at the various stalls where demonstrations- of- manufactures and industries were in progress, had a oontimmU throng of spectators watching the different processes. The marquee leading off the exhibition proper was well filled throughout the evening, and the programme of musical items and lectnrettes received hearty .appreciation. Dr Charles Chilton spoke on “The Useful and the Beautiful,” and Air 0. T. J. Alpers on .‘•' Education and Industry.” Both addresses wore highly interesting, and at their conclusion a scries of moving pictures were screened. _. Particular interest by those attending the fair is shown in the work done by the soldiers from thc_ Orthopaedic Hospital. A _ capable orchestra provides much enjoyment during the fair. The fair will- be open to-day, and in the evening a programme of varied entertainments will be provided.
