HORSE SHOW.

AMBERLEY. vThe nineteenth annual show under the auspices of the Amberley , Breeders’ Association was, held today in the local domain under favourable conditions* iao association was formed with the object of encouraging the farmers to breed horses of the better class and 'a good deal of success has attended its ettorts in that direction. Las't. vear the association enlarged the scope of its operations by adding classes, for sheep, cattle and dogs to its prize schedule, with satisfactory results. The experiment was repeated this year, and ; a substantially increased entry was cafa- A logued. Details of the entries are .is, follows:—Draught horses, 60 , (previous \ light horses 88 (691, ponies 34 ' sheep V’B (53). cattle 19 (15), dogs -. home produce 80 (9l); totals, Sn (320). There was keen competition in most of the draught stock classes, several of thts district fanners having exhibits in the ring. The young 1 horses were a particularly good lot, especially the two-year-olds entered for the association’s challenge cup. Harness horses ■ were not largely represented, but there was a large entry of saddle horses, including hunters, several of the exhibits being well-known. followers of. the Brackenfield, hounds. • Ppnies were also a strong section, and the majority of the exhibits were of a, desirable class. ' In the sheep section, English Leicester’s attracted only two exhibits, but there was a meritorious show of Border Leicester's and close .competition between four earners. Mr A. R. Turnbull had the Romney Marsh classes to himself, and although there.were several entries in Oorriedalcs there was competition'in only one class. The fat sheep classes included a, few prime exhibits. .'Without exception the cattle shown were of I a. superior class. Competition in- Shorthorns was confined to two well-known breeders, Mr'R* Peach and: Mr W. Scoon; and the Jerseys exhibited all came from Mr J. Fleming’s high-class herd. There was a good show of sheep dogs. Thd home produce section of the. show was well supported by the ladies,. ■ and their exhibits were of high merit.
