WEDDING.

BECKETT—WBSTENRA. The largest and most popular wedding that lias taken place in Akaroa for some time was solemnised on Wednesday at St Peter’s, Church, Akaroa, the officiating clergymen being the Rev A. H. Julius and ■ the Rev Jasper Smythe, when Miss Winifred Evelyn TVestenra, eldest daughter of Mr and U ?. 6stenra ' was carried to Mr B. H Beckett, of Fendalton. The bndo, who was given away by her father looked charming in a beautiful dress of white crepe do chine and georgette, with touches of embroidery in shell, pink, the long train being lined with pink. She wore a handsome veil k JV’, a ? friend and carried a beautiful shower bouquet of white flowors. and maidenhair fern with glimpses P . m K- Tlie bridesmaids, who . were the bride s two sisters, .and Miss Elsie mrgroaves wore frocks of grey crepe de chine and georgette with touches of embroidery in rose pink, and large black hats, with old rose. They carried very lovely bouquets of pink and red roses .with maidenhair fern. , - Captain Arthur Jacobson acted, as best man and Lieutenant Virtue and Lieutenant/Twentyman as groomsmen. The church, which was tastefully decorated by girl friends of the bride, with arum lilies and festoons of flowers, was crowded with spectators. ■After the ceremony Mr and Mrs Westenra held a reception at their residence, “ Lynton,” Balguere Street, the bride’s mother receiving in a gown of black satin with cream silk, Spanish lace mantila anjl black hat with blue and .grey ostrich feathers, and refreshments were served in the dining and drawing rooms, and the guests afterwards enjoyed a delightful afternoon in the beautiful, grounds.. Among the many guests present were relations, and; friends from far and near, including Fairlie,, Waimate and church.
