MEMBERSHIP CAMPAIGN, The Christchurch branch of the Canterbury Progress League to-day will open its first membership campaign and appeal to the public to assist the organisation in its propaganda work, which is epitomised in tho slogan “ h’orward Canterbury.The public are already acquainted with the objects of the league, which is a non-political organisation formed to promote the advancement of the province. The time has now arrived when the league requires the hearty co-operation of, all public-spiiited citizens desirous of see* ing this province progress and become the future home of a large and prosperous community. To achieve this laudable end it is tho aim of the Christchurch branch of the league to enrol as members all those who have the welfare of Canterbury at heart. . As a special feature of this membership campaign an industrial fair is to be opened at the Colosseum on Saturday night, at which the products of Canterbury in a novel and attractive form will be displayed. The fair will also j serve as a rallying point for the mem- | bership campaign. Already the success 1 of this enterprise appears assured, and ’ all who enrol as members of the league this week will secure the privilege of obtaining a season ticket to the fair and its various attractions as well as the membership of the league for 19191920, In order to avoid congestion at the opening ceremony of the industrial fair facilities are being offered to the public' to enrol as members before the fair opens on Saturday night. ■ An enrolment bureau has been erected in Cathedral Square, where membership tickets. (including season tickets to the fair) may be obtained. As well as this a number of business firms have also generously offered, to.accept enrolments and issue membership tickets, Including a badge to signify membership to the league, which for the week will bo an emblem of the wearers* loyally to Canterbury, and his or her earnest faith in the future of the province.
