THE REPUBLICAN RESERVATIONS. NEW TORE, October 20Senator Lodge savs that iu the event of the Democrats’ defeat of the Treatyratification resolution embodying reservations, the Republicans would vote clown any attempt to reconsider, the resolution. Forty-nine Republicans and six Democrats would vote in. support of tho reservations. The vote on tile Johnston amendment, which is expected shortly, will be extremely close. FIRST MEETING OF LEAGUE. NEW TORE. October 20. “ The Times ” Paris correspondent states that the vSupremo Council has voted to hold the hrst meeting of the Conned of the League of Nations in Paris on the same dav as the formal dopjs’t of ratifications of the Peace Treaty is made. President Wilson has been requested to issue a call which will go to England. France., the United Star’-; Japan, Italy. Belgium, Greece, Spain and Brazil. The American delegation Is positive that the United States will not he represented on the Council unless the Senate ratifies the Trcatv before the meeting.
