JOURNALISTS' DISPUTE.
AGREEMENT IN DUNEDIN. At a sitting of the Conciliation Council in Dunedin yesterday, Air W. H. Bagger, Conciliation Commissioner, 1 presiding, a complete agreement was I arrive ! at in the dispute between the Dunedin Journalists’ Union and the proprietors of the “Otago Daily Times " and “ Evening Star,** The principal features of the agreement are ae follows: —Alinimum wages—Senior reporters and sub-editors £7 10s, general reporters £6, junior reporters, first year £4, second year £4 10s; cadets (one to each eight reporters), first year £1 10s, second year £2 15s, third year £3 10a: proof readers and copyholders, as fixed m Auckland award. Hours for reporters are on the basis of a 4S-hour week, the Auckland clauses being adopted! A modification of the Auckland clause regarding holidays was agreed to. and it was agreed to adopt the Christchurch preference clause and “ temporary interchange of duties ” clause. - The definition of a “cadet” was altered to include within its scope an assistant in the sub-editor’s room. The agreement! will cpme into force on November 1 and will have a term of two years.
